The Celebration Shloer is on ice at TRI Equestrian

The TRI Equestrian Ulster Region Spring Pony Tour Final will be held this Sunday 26th May at The Meadows Equestrian Centre. The SJI Pony committee have been thrilled with the high level of ability and professionalism of competitors throughout the past two months.  A number of young athletes committed to attending most legs of this tour gaining valuable ‘ring time’ and experience at the same time.

At the final on Sunday, classes will start at 9am as Arena 1 begins with 148 classes followed by 138cm classes.  Arena 2 will start with 128 50cms through to 128 1m, finishing with children on horses & Junior classes.  Prize givings for the league will be presented on the prestigious Meadows podium and celebration bottles of Shloer are on ice for the big final to celebrate success for these hard working young athletes and the teams of supportive parents who make it all possible.

One name that deserves a mention for making it all possible is Gareth McCombe at TRI Equestrian who has been an invaluable supporter for this spring tour.  Aldyth Roulston commented “We couldn’t do it without TRI Equestrian, the kids love getting their vouchers each week, with some saving them up throughout the league to purchase the best quality competition gear there is.  Their sponsorship supports not just the sport, but the children who love the sport, which is where I feel the future of show jumping lies.”
Leaderboards have been published after each round of the tour so far and Athletes will be treated to a podium top three finish in every class at the final on Sunday 26th May as overall placings are worked out following each class.
The 128 50, 60, 70, 138 80cm, and 148 90cm competitors will see their best four scores including the final for their overall total.  Meanwhile the 128 80cm, 128 85cm, 128 90cm, 128 1m, 138 90cm, 138 1m, 138 1.10m, 148 148 1m, 148 1.10m, 148 1.10m 6&7 year old, 148 1.20m, COH/Junior 1m, COH 1.10/1.20m & Junior 1.10m/1.20m will be using their best 5 scores including the final to decide their placings in the overall tour.

Kathryn Morton leads the way in the CPH/ Junior 1.10m/1.20M, while Ben Maybin is 15 points clear at the moment in the COH / Junior 1m class.  The 148 90cm class sees 6 riders currently on maximum points so the final will be extremely competitive!  The 148 1m class has 3 riders on 42 points with a further two riders just 3 points behind them.  The 148 1.10m class sees Yiayan Evans 5 points clear of his nearest rival with Lucy Morton and Niamh McEvoy in joint second heading to the final.  Clara Maguire leads the way with a lead of 10 points in the 148 6 & 7 year old class.

The 128 50cm class sees Elsie Tunney and Ruby Millar head to the final on maximum points, meanwhile the 128 60cm class has 4 riders on maximum points. Nine competitors are on maximum points in the 128 70cm class which we believe will keep spectators on the edge of their seats!
