Ballyward Horse Summer Tour 2019

In just one weeks’ time, the show jumping calendar will be getting even more competitive with the commencement of the Ballyward Equestrian Summer Horse Tour.  This is the second year Ballyward have supported the Ulster Region Horse Tour
This year the league begins on Saturday 20th April, where Causeway Coast arena is expected to be a hive of activity with competitors travelling the length and breadth of the region to compete in a range of classes from 90cm to 1.35GP.
There will be 13 legs of the league in 2019 covering 5 counties so regardless of where you are travelling from, there will be a venue nearby.
Sarah Burns who won the overall 1.10 league in 2018 commented “I always follow the league because it has decent prize money at every leg and I like to be competitive when I can.  It’s also great prize money for the final and overall league placings not to mention the benefit of it bringing on younger horses with the variation in venues and courses throughout.”
For those taking part in the league, six tour leg placings plus the final count towards the total of each combinations’ points.  Full criteria can be found on the ulstershowjumping.ie website.
Derek Reid Chairman of the horse committee commented “We are delighted to continue our sponsorship with Ballyward throughout 2019 for the popular Summer Horse League.  It was well supported last year and we are looking forward to a thrilling tour and final this year too.”
Brian McConnville from Ballyward Equestrian commented “We enjoy being part of the tour and it’s a joy to see both horses and riders develop throughout the summer each year.  With good prize money on offer at every leg, it encourages development and competition at every level of the sport.”
League leader boards and presentation photographs will be updated and uploaded to the Ulster Region Show Jumping Facebook page after every competition to keep competitors and owners well versed in their current standings and to further showcase the successes of our most talented horses and riders throughout the tour.
