    <link>https://www.ulstershowjumping.ie/News/ID/670/McCracken-Kelly-and-Maybin-Headline-at-TRI-Tour-Final</link>
    <description>The TRI Equestrian Ulster Region Autumn Pony Tour Final at Portmore on Saturday 19th October was the icing on the cake for a very successful tour. &amp;nbsp;Many young riders were in their element receiving recognition on the podium for their hard work and commitment since the tour began at the end of August. &amp;nbsp;Many were geared for the forecasted weather, however the sun shone from dawn till dusk allowing riders in both arenas to enjoy the perfect ending to their TRI Equestrian Ulster Region Autumn Pony Tour. &amp;nbsp;Early classes featured 148 ponies in the Bluegrass outdoor at Portmore, while 128 ponies competed in the newcomer classes indoors. &amp;nbsp;Millie Spence and Dagda Mellow were one of the 7 combinations on maximum score heading to the final, their consistent efforts paid off when their win in the final ensured that extra point to win the overall league in the 128 50cm class. &amp;nbsp;Shannon Cairns on Priah were 2nd, with Megan Harris and Rookery Zoe in third and Harriet O&amp;rsquo;Hagan in fourth. &amp;nbsp;Lexie Maguire who finished 5th in the 50cm, made the most of her experience and went on to win the 60cm class and overall league in the process! &amp;nbsp;Megan Harris was second this time, with Juliana Nelson and Casper in third.

Gareth McCombe from TRI Equestrian kindly brought a mountain of bags that morning containing lots of prizes and goodies which were an absolute pleasure to present on the day. &amp;nbsp;The excitement on everyone&amp;rsquo;s faces as they received their TRI bags packed full of top-quality TRI products was the cherry on top for organisers and parents too.

Lily Tunney finished just one point behind her overall to take second place with Cillian Torrens in third. &amp;nbsp;Elizabeth then went on and repeated her success in the 128 90cm class too! &amp;nbsp;This time, Cillian Torrens stepped up into second place on the day and overall, while Zara-Jane Kelly finished in third place overall. &amp;nbsp;The TRI Equestrian Ulster Region Autumn Pony Tour 128 1m class was won by Robert Russell who has enjoyed a fabulous season so far, Jamie Clarke finished in second place overall and Charlotte McCracken took third spot on the podium.

&amp;nbsp;

Following the event, Aldyth Roulston commented &amp;ldquo;We are absolutely thrilled with the success of today&amp;rsquo;s final round. &amp;nbsp;It&amp;rsquo;s a pleasure to see the development and progress in our young riders week by week throughout the tour and to present the TRI sponsored prizes as a reward for hard work is even better. &amp;nbsp;We are extremely thankful to Gareth McComb at TRI Equestrian who has been an invaluable support helping us run our tours over the last number of years, and we would encourage our competitors to visit the TRI shop and reciprocate that support. &amp;nbsp;Thank you to all the parents and venues who supported this tour making it such a success for our young Ulster riders.&amp;rdquo;

    <title>Ulster Host National Amateur Championships</title>
    <link>https://www.ulstershowjumping.ie/News/ID/669/Ulster-Host-National-Amateur-Championships</link>
    <description>The Ulster Region played host to the National Amateur Championships in July this year and enjoyed a very successful show at Cavan Equestrian Centre.&amp;nbsp; Competitors travelled from across Ireland to show their support and make the most of a competitive and entertaining weekend of show jumping and community! Classes were split to provide prizes for both A and AA sections throughout the weekend which was well received by competitors.&amp;nbsp; (Photograph supplied courtesy of Laurence Dunne Jump In Action Photography.&amp;nbsp; To purchase photographs from this show click here.&amp;nbsp; The first class of the show was kindly sponsored by the Boomerang Restaurant and first through the finish line in the A section was Jenny Montgomery and Easy Time.&amp;nbsp; Ulster hosts were delighted to see numerous Ulster riders in the placings for many classes which started strong with Ruari Holmes finishing in 3rd &amp;amp; 7th, Roisin Hughes in 5th, and Sharon Junk in 6th place.&amp;nbsp; The AA section was won by Lisa Doyle which began her run of strong results for the overall title.&amp;nbsp; Meanwhile Ulster riders Ruth O&amp;rsquo;Brien finished in 2nd, with Jennifer Leeper in 3rd, Ian Moore in 5th and 8th with Fiona Thompson in 6th and 7th positions.

The second class of the weekend was an accumulator with a joker fence which dared competitors to take a risk to improve their chances of featuring in the all important prize giving line ups.&amp;nbsp; This option was naturally favoured by many keen amateurs as they took on the imposing CWD planks. Winner of the AA section was Adrian Gilmartin and Carnaval Cocktail, with Sara Gorman and Take a Gamble in second and Lisa Doyle and Corland&amp;rsquo;s Clipper in third.&amp;nbsp; This time the A riders gained the advantage of seeing AA combinations take on the course first. &amp;nbsp;Fastest A rider was Naiomh O&amp;rsquo;Gorman and Ankaras, with Sharon Ryan in second on Diamond Pierre and Dani Murphy on Thornfield Dubh in third.

The final class on the first day was a Horse First Mini Grand Prix, which featured fabulous hampers as prizes kindly donated to support the show.&amp;nbsp; Winner of the A section was Rebecca O&amp;rsquo;Toole Glenedens Lancealittle, while AA winner was Alex Robinson Bailey and Callie LVS Z. This combination then went on to win an Amateur Class at the RDS Dublin Horse Show in Simmonscourt, fresh from their success at the National Championships.&amp;nbsp; Adrian Gilmartin featured in the line up once again and took second place while Nicci Hall and Ladykiller finished in third.

The following morning, the Turco Engineering Cotton Family Speed Challenge was won by Johnnie Fitzpatrick and Saunders Beach Ball Cruise who took three hundredths of a second off Sara Gormans blistering fast time of 56.28 in the AA section.&amp;nbsp; Times were extremely close between the two sections with the winning A rider, Ruari Holmes and Figaro IV stopping the clock in 55.98 with Emma Babos and Ballydeely Kate finishing in 56.61 seconds for a close second.

The final class of the weekend was a Grand Prix sponsored from Cullies Maxol with vouchers for fuel or homeward bound refreshments to placed riders.&amp;nbsp; Stuart&amp;nbsp;Clarke built a testing but enjoyable track for the finale of the show and it proved a fitting challenge for both A and AA sectionsSarah Kinnear and DStud Midget Gem were unbeatable in the AA section, while Ruari Holmes Figaro IV once again claimed top spot in the A section concluding a very successful weekend for them.

Congratulations to Adrian Gilmartin and Carnaval Cocktail whose splendid top form had continued from Ulster based National Balmoral Championships earlier that month. &amp;nbsp;After winning the overall National Champion title, he then went on to further his overwhelming success with another Amateur Championship win in the main arena at the RDS Dublin Horse Show!&amp;nbsp; Adrian commented &amp;ldquo;&amp;quot;I&amp;#39;ve been blessed to enjoy a great season with Carnaval Cocktail, and as always with the amateur championships it&amp;#39;s great craic as well as great jumping!&amp;nbsp; Thanks to everyone who helped organise it; the courses, prizes, schedules etc were brilliant and I&amp;#39;d encourage more amateurs to support this show next year too.&amp;quot;

Lisa Doyle may have taken time out to have her beautiful daughter last year, however she didn&amp;rsquo;t waste any time this weekend claiming the title of National speed Champion.&amp;nbsp; This accolade was celebrated by spectators who cheered home her well-earned return to top form.&amp;nbsp; Lisa commented &amp;ldquo;We&amp;nbsp;really enjoyed the show, it was well run and had great prizes also&amp;nbsp;big thanks to the Ulster committee for organising the show and ensuring everyone had a great weekend!&amp;quot;

Thanks to everyone at Cavan Equestrian who were the perfect hosts and the hard working committee members who supported the show in many different ways.&amp;nbsp; A special mention must go to all those who supported the Ulster Region Amateur Committees fundraising raffle, their&amp;nbsp;support was very much appreciated.&amp;nbsp;The Ulster Region will once again host the National Championships in 2020 and are looking forward to building on a very successful 2019 show.

    <title>Ballyward Ulster Region Tour Success </title>
    <link>https://www.ulstershowjumping.ie/News/ID/666/Ballyward-Ulster-Region-Tour-Success</link>
    <description>The Ballyward Equestrian Ulster Region Summer Horse Tour concluded at The Meadows Equestrian Centre on Sat 24th&amp;nbsp;August 2019.&amp;nbsp; In true summer tour fashion, competitors came from far and wide to compete for both the league prize fund and the boosted class prize fund on the day thanks to the Ulster Region.

Competitor numbers were high with every class almost doubling in entries against the final last year ensuring stiff competition and superb action for spectators to enjoy throughout the day.

The day began with a 1.10m class in Arena 1 as Young Riders and Seniors competed for a prize fund of &amp;pound;650 in each section.&amp;nbsp; Sarah Burns had led the challenge to the final in the senior section with Georgies Star and achieving 5th&amp;nbsp;place on the day secured her win in the league overall.&amp;nbsp; While Sarah Kinnear was placed 6th&amp;nbsp;and secured her second spot on the podium.&amp;nbsp; Emma Jackson and Silken Allure finished in third on the podium in the 1.10m senior for the first of her league placings at the show.&amp;nbsp; Sheikh Samir Mirdad claimed the prize money for the class on the day stopping the clock in a time of 39.07 seconds.&amp;nbsp; Young rider Mackenzie Healy finished two hundredths of a second behind him to take the win in the Young Rider section of the class.&amp;nbsp; The Young Rider 1.10m podium battle was between Patrick McWilliams and Elle Johnston, with little separating them as they headed to the final, however Elle Johnston held onto the lead overall and took top spot on the podium.

Meanwhile in Arena 2, action had started promptly and competitors were making the most of every opportunity to save valuable seconds in the speed round.&amp;nbsp; Fastest competitor on the day was Sharon Junk and Hollypark Toes who stopped the clock in a blistering time of 32.60 seconds.&amp;nbsp; Second fastest through the finish line was Justine O&amp;rsquo;Hara who claimed enough valuable points to secure her win for the overall league.&amp;nbsp; Second in the 90cm league was Maeve Lunny who commented &amp;ldquo;After following this league for 3 years and travelling the length and breadth of Ireland, I&amp;rsquo;m absolutely delighted to get second position overall.&amp;nbsp; We have a combined age of 80 between myself and Okee Dokee so to have a podium finish to this year&amp;rsquo;s league is absolutely brilliant.&amp;rdquo;&amp;nbsp; Third and final place on our 90cm league podium was Helen Pannell who commented on the &amp;ldquo;Glorious atmosphere, it&amp;rsquo;s been great to have something to aim for and compete in every Saturday encouraging us to visit new locations which we may not have otherwise travelled to.&amp;rdquo;

The 1m course was promptly built and ready for the next class of competitors.&amp;nbsp; The battle for first position on the 1m podium was between the two mounts both ridden by Fiona Thompson.&amp;nbsp; Her own Curolea Roni claimed top spot with Eavan White&amp;rsquo;s O&amp;rsquo;Harabrook in second.&amp;nbsp; Third place overall went to Laura Irvine who commented &amp;ldquo;I&amp;rsquo;ve really enjoyed getting to such a variety of different shows and surfaces, meeting a great community of like minded people while competing has been great aswell.&amp;rdquo;&amp;nbsp; Winner on the day in the 1m class was Fionn Clarke on Delton, with Fiona Thompson in second and fourth while Karen Pearson and Hanley News finished in third.&amp;nbsp;

The 1.20m winner on Saturday was also our 1.20m winner from National Balmoral&amp;rsquo;s Ballyward 1.20m class Dylan Ward and Hard Times.&amp;nbsp; As a young rider they claimed the young rider section of this class, while Emma Jackson and Creevagh For Sure claimed top spot in the senior section.&amp;nbsp; This win secured Emma&amp;rsquo;s return to the podium and top spot for the 1.20m league.&amp;nbsp; Second place in the senior section was Dermott Lennon and his seven year old Absolutely Kingmar Z.&amp;nbsp; Sarah Burns finished in 6th&amp;nbsp;in the senior section on the day and did enough to claim 2nd&amp;nbsp;and 3rd&amp;nbsp;overall in this competitive league.&amp;nbsp;

The Young Rider 1.20m podium saw the return of both Elle Johnston and Patrick McWilliams.&amp;nbsp; Elle won the overall league on Tawnmore Lux Furious, with Patrick in third on Drumrot Penny and Olivia Roulston stepped into second position with Philip Rosbothams Avalent having done enough earlier in the league to hold on to her position.

The height of the fences in arena 1 went up again for the 1.35m class as competitors warmed up for this &amp;pound;3,500 prize fund.&amp;nbsp; A number of questions tested both horse and rider skill over the duration of the course in both rounds as spectators were kept on the edge of their seats to the very last round.&amp;nbsp; A young rider once again claimed victory in this class as Olivia Roulston fresh from Dublin success rode a foot perfect round onboard Erico.&amp;nbsp; Frank Curran claimed second on Oliver Twister and Third on Ardragh Chekoff, an eight year old grey gelding owned by Cliodhna Breen who Frank also competed at Dublin earlier this month.&amp;nbsp; Shannon Robinson and Chardonnay produced the only other double clear to finish in fourth while Jonathan Smyth onboard Ann Doherty&amp;rsquo;s Crystal Tom finished in fifth securing the overall league win and top spot on the podium.&amp;nbsp; Simon Scott finished second and third on the podium as reward for his consistent top form throughout league.

Derek Reid, Ulster Region horse committee Chairman commented &amp;ldquo;We would like to thank every competitor who stepped forward to compete and support this year&amp;rsquo;s Ballyward Equestrian Summer Horse Tour including each centre and show who played host for our riders.&amp;nbsp; We are thrilled with the level of support received throughout the league and in the final leg.&amp;rdquo;&amp;nbsp; Derek continued&amp;hellip; &amp;ldquo;We have enjoyed a splendid tour this year, our competitor numbers are up and we now look forward to next year&amp;rsquo;s tour with excitement.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;Congratulations&amp;nbsp;to everyone placed today in each class and on the podium, the standard of jumping has been exceptional and a pleasure to watch.&amp;rdquo;

    <title>Interview with John McEntee after European Pony Team Gold Success</title>
    <link>https://www.ulstershowjumping.ie/News/ID/665/Interview-with-John-McEntee-after-European-Pony-Team-Gold-Success</link>
    <description>Name

John McEntee

Age

16

We have all followed your tremendous success at the recent Pony European Championships, how did it feel to win a gold medal?

It was an incredible feeling especially after such an exciting jump off

What was the best thing about the Pony Europeans

Winning the medal alongside my teammates Max, Tom, Frano and Niamh

What pony were you competing?

Little Smithe

Tell us about him&amp;hellip;

He is 9 years old and is owned by Vinnie and Jean. I have had him since March

How long have you been preparing for these championships?

Preparation started at the beginning of the year through the TRI Spring Tour as well as the Plusvital Spring Tour which enabled me to go to Fontinbleau

This wasn&amp;#39;t your first trip to Europe this year to compete, where all have you competed in 2019?

The first show was to Fontinbleau in France with My Gypsy Rose owned by Terry Johnston who was 3rd in the Nations Cup and 7th in the Grand Prix. I also had Little Smite and he finished 4th, 3rd and 1st on the final day.

We also went to Wierdan in Holland with My Gyspy Rose who was 2nd in the Nations Cup and Brooklyn Du Granit owned by Dermott Lennon. Brooklyn du Granit finished 3rd in the 125 class.

Hagen in Germany was the third trip with Little Smithe and HHS Mustang Sally owned by Hughes Horse Stud. Little Smithe was on the winning Nations Cup team and was 5th in the Grand Prix. HHS Mustang Sally won both days in the 125 class.

A key figure in allowing me to gain experience and achieve these results is Gary Marshall. Throughout the year, Gary has been an influential figure at the shows which I am very grateful for.

We know it takes a team of people to keep any successful competitor on the road, which people do you&amp;nbsp; feel have been the most influential in your riding career so far.

I am very lucky to have supportive owners in Terry, Vinny, Jean, Dermott, Marion, James Kernan and Dan Walsh. Without owners, it was impossible to achieve the results.

&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;

Starting Out

What age did you first start riding &amp;ndash; tell us about your first pony&amp;hellip;

I competed at my first registered show when I was 5 years old on a 12.2 called Cream Socks. He was one of my first ponies alongside Redford Mayfly, I&amp;rsquo;m Otto and Super Sonic.

Do you have any sponsors you&amp;rsquo;d like to mention?

Horse First (Paddy Hughes) have supported me for some time and their products help ensure that my ponies are on top form. We also had a lot of sponsor support for the Europeans in HSI, TRM, Gain and many more.

What&amp;#39;s next for you?

My aim for next year is to move onto horses with the goal of doing Juniors.

I would like to thank you everyone who has supported and helped me to achieve my recent achievements, it has been instrumental.

On behalf of the Ulster Region Pony Committee, we would like to congratulate you on your tremendous success this year and wish you every success in the future.

    <title>Interview with Niamh McEvoy after European Pony Team Gold Success</title>
    <link>https://www.ulstershowjumping.ie/News/ID/664/Interview-with-Niamh-McEvoy-after-European-Pony-Team-Gold-Success</link>
    <description>Name:&amp;nbsp;Niamh&amp;nbsp;McEvoy

Age:&amp;nbsp;15

We have all followed your tremendous success at the recent Pony European Championships, how did it feel to win a gold medal?&amp;nbsp;

It was absolutely fantastic. It was such a close competition. We were worried about the British, the French and the Germans. At the end of the 2nd&amp;nbsp;round we had forced a jump off with Great Britain and when we won everybody was clapping and cheering and the Irish were going mad!

What was the best thing about the Pony Europeans?&amp;nbsp;

It was such a great experience and atmosphere and it was great to meet competitors from different countries.&amp;nbsp;The Swedish team were lovely even though they threw me in the water jump! Because I had only one pony there I had time to mix and everyone was so good to us. The best part was of course winning a gold medal under Gary Marshall&amp;nbsp;and there was a great team spirit with everyone pulling together and helping each other. It was a real team effort.

What pony were you competing?&amp;nbsp;

Ardfry Skye

Tell us about her&amp;hellip;

&amp;nbsp;Ardfry Skye was bred and is owned by Pascal Crawford from Galway. Pascal was originally from Omagh. Skye is a full Connemara and she is a brilliant and honest pony&amp;nbsp;and an incredible jumper.

How long have you been preparing for these championships?&amp;nbsp;

I have had Skye for just over a year and I did the Coolmore Premiers with her last year and she had a lot of good placings. From the start of this year I aimed to get on teams with her and especially the Europeans

This wasn&amp;#39;t your first trip to Europe this year to compete, where all have you competed this year?

I have had a really busy year. Skye jumped a double clear in the Nations cup in Fontainebleau and we finished 3rd. She was double clear in Wierden in Holland on the team and we finished 2nd&amp;nbsp;so the Europeans was my 3rd&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;trip abroad this year.&amp;nbsp;Milchem Shes a Keeper also placed in every class in Fontainebleau and Toscane Davnir was in the ribbons in Wierden

You had a successful Dublin aswell, tell us how you got on.&amp;nbsp;

Dublin was great this year. Firemen was runner-up &amp;nbsp;in the first class in Simmonscourt and was 4th&amp;nbsp;in the Championship in the Main Arena, Glenford Melody was also 6th&amp;nbsp;in the first 6/7yo class.

What&amp;#39;s your favourite show? if you can name just one&amp;nbsp;

This definitely has to be the RDS in Dublin. I have been going there for as long as I can remember and have completed at it since I was 11. The jumping is brilliant and the atmosphere is great!

We know you always support the TRI Equestrian Spring and Autumn Tours and with this years Autumn tour starting soon, what do you enjoy most about these regional tours and why do you support them?&amp;nbsp;

Tours are great for bringing ponies on and the competitions are really good. With the different heights it means that I can jump novice ponies as well as the more experienced ones. I think that the tours are great preparation for the next level and I love practising my clock rounds. TRI Equestrian also provide really good prizes which encourages so many people to follow the tour.&amp;nbsp;The tours have really upped the standard in the Region.

Who do you receive lessons from?&amp;nbsp;

My mum helps me a lot with schooling and training. She&amp;nbsp;used me as her rider for her coaching exams and it really helped my flat work. Flat work is so important for showjumping.

I also get help from Denis Flannelly who is a brilliant trainer and he has taught me so much. I am really lucky as I also get help from Lucy Allen who is another really positive and knowledgeable coach

We know it takes a team of people to keep any successful competitor on the road, which people do you feel have been most influential in your riding career so far?&amp;nbsp;

I think my mum has helped me so much. She has ridden and competed herself so she was able to help me from the start to try to ride correctly. I have been very lucky with the owners who have given me great ponies to ride and Denis and Lucy have been brilliant

Starting Out

What advice would you give to someone new coming into the sport and starting in ponies?

I think it is really good to watch other riders as you can learn so much just from watching them on the flat and jumping.&amp;nbsp;Concentrate on your flatwork. Watch the top riders school and warm up their horses. Listen and take advice and help from others.

What age did you first start riding?&amp;nbsp;

I started riding when I was 10 months old on Huckleberry my first pony. He was about 10 hands and my mum said it was the only thing that stopped me crying! When I was 3 I managed to get rid of the lead rein and jump my first course of fences.&amp;nbsp;I started out in the Seskinore Harriers Pony Club and had brilliant experiences at the pony club camps and on teams.

What is the best thing about show jumping?

&amp;nbsp;when everything works out and I get good results! I love my ponies and am really passionate about them. I love going to different shows and meeting my friends every week

&amp;nbsp;School

Which is done first, homework or riding?&amp;nbsp;

Unfortunately homework. I go to the Loreto Convent in Omagh and they have a good showjumping team. I have competed on lots of school teams which my cousin Ellen Thompson. For the last couple of years I haven&amp;#39;t had ponies to do schools jumping with but if I had I would definitely be there especially as it gets me out of school.

Sponsors

Do you have any sponsors you&amp;#39;d like to mention?&amp;nbsp;

I am really grateful to TRI Equestrian who have sponsored me now for a number of years. I get lots of great tack and riding gear and it means that I can turn the ponies out really well. The Meadows Equestrian Centre and Portmore Equestrian Centre have also been very good to me and I really appreciate it.

Why do you like working with them?&amp;nbsp;

TRI Equestrian are so generous and they put so much into jumping. Gareth is always there to make sure that I have everything I need and I get the chance to try out new products before they are launched to let him know what I think. I recently got a Tesoro saddle which was brilliant. It was really comfortable and a good fit on all of the ponies.

What&amp;rsquo;s your favourite product from TRI?

I really love the Tesoro tack.

What&amp;#39;s next for your career?&amp;nbsp; What ponies are you competing at the moment?&amp;nbsp;

At the moment I&amp;#39;m competing on Fireman, Ardfry Skye, Toscane Davnir, Milchem Shes a Keeper, Glenford Melody, Sparking Boomerangs Clover and Sparkling Mr Boomtastic.

Which ponies are you most excited about?&amp;nbsp;

It&amp;#39;s hard to choose I am so lucky with the ponies I have but I always love jumping Fireman because he is so exciting to ride.

What are your aims for the rest of this and into next year?

The Premier final is coming up soon and it is very close between Frano, Rhys and myself. After the Europeans I was invited to jump at the Longines Masters in Paris at the start of December and I am really looking forward to this. I will hopefully also get selected to compete in the World Cup series show in Lyon at the end of October. Next year I will again concentrate on the RDS, the Coolmore Premier Series, the TRI Equestrian National Championships and hopefully the European Championships.

On behalf of the Ulster Region Pony Committee, we would like to congratulate you on your tremendous success this year and wish you every success in the future.

    <title>Bumper Prize Fund for Ballyward Equestrian U.R. Final Leg at Meadows Equestrian Centre</title>
    <link>https://www.ulstershowjumping.ie/News/ID/652/Bumper-Prize-Fund-for-Ballyward-Equestrian-UR-Final-Leg-at-Meadows-Equestrian-Centre</link>
    <description>All roads lead to the Meadows this Saturday for the Ballyward Equestrian Ulster Region final leg on Saturday 24th August.&amp;nbsp; This year&amp;#39;s summer horse tour began in April and encompassed shows and venues across the province as competitors collected points throughout 5 months of show jumping action.&amp;nbsp; The Ulster Region of Showjumping Ireland have contributed substantial prize money towards both the overall league prize fund, and an enhanced prize fund for the final leg on Saturday which is open to all.&amp;nbsp; Derek Reid, Chairman of the Ulster Region Horse Committee commented &amp;quot;We made the decision when putting this tour together, to increase the prize money in the final leg by allocating additional funds.&amp;nbsp; Our aim is to create a fabulous atmosphere, where the podium placed riders who supported the league would be congratulated.&amp;quot;&amp;nbsp; Derek continued &amp;quot;We would like to thank our sponsors for this league, including Ballyward Equestrian who joined us for the second year running, and also a new sponsor for this tour McFadden Civils Ltd who have been long time supporters of Ulster Region Showjumping.&amp;nbsp; Without our sponsors, these annual horse tours would not be possible.&amp;nbsp; We also take this opportunity to thank all competitors who supported the league this year.&amp;quot;

Organisers are keen to encourage all competitors to attend the final leg regardless of previous attendances, as prize money at this final leg is open to all.&amp;nbsp; Only league placings are for competitors who have competed at 4 legs to qualify for league prize money.

The schedule for Saturday 24th includes a 1.35m with a prize fund of &amp;pound;3,500, 1.20m senior and YR class with &amp;pound;1,000 for each category up for grabs on the day, a 1.10m Senior and YR class with &amp;pound;650 prize fund for each category, 1m and 90cm classes with prize funds of &amp;pound;450 each.&amp;nbsp; There is also an amateur class at the show with prizes in kind unrelated to the tour.&amp;nbsp; The overall league prize fund is in excess of these figures and the top three combinations in each class of the summer tour league will be awarded on the podium this Saturday.&amp;nbsp; These achievements will also be&amp;nbsp;celebrated at the annual horse awards in January next year.&amp;nbsp;

Competition is very close in the battle for Ulster Region titles.&amp;nbsp; With 15 points for a win on Saturday the pressure is on&amp;nbsp;and spectators are in for a gripping final day&amp;#39;s viewing!&amp;nbsp;In the 1.35m Simon Scott lies in first and second place with Ploverfield Lilyanna and Jasmine Tide respectively, while Jonathan Smyth who has secured 5 wins in his 5 outings through the league lies 5 points behind him in third place.&amp;nbsp;

The 90cm class is&amp;nbsp;tied at the moment between Justine O&amp;#39;Hara with Sally and Maeve Lunny on Okee Dokee on 54 points each.&amp;nbsp; However 9 riders are currently within 10 points of this leading score at the moment so this narrow margin lends to a gripping final leg!&amp;nbsp;

Fiona Thompson lies in first and second place in the 1m league, with her own Curolea Roni in 1st and Philip White&amp;#39;s O&amp;#39;Harabrook in second.&amp;nbsp; Fiona made use of her three wins throughout the tour gaining more than a 15 point margin on nearest competitor&amp;nbsp;Laura Ervine and White Hawk Sahara&amp;nbsp;in third,&amp;nbsp;so Saturday&amp;#39;s attendance is imperative for Fiona to hold on to 1st and second place.

Emma Jackson and Sarah Burns battle it out in the 1.10m and 1.20m classes,&amp;nbsp;Sarah and Georgies Star are holding the lead to the final in the 1.10m with Emma and Silken Allure in second place 13 points behind.&amp;nbsp; Meanwhile Emma and Creevagh For&amp;nbsp;Sure lead the way in the 1.20m while Sarah and Georgies Star are 13 points behind them in second!&amp;nbsp; Jonathan Creswell on KGC Maverick and Sarah Kinnear and Dstud Midget Gem will be keeping the pressure on in the 1.10m class as the top 3 positions for podium placings are decided

The Young Rider 1.10 league tables have documented a change in leadership as the tour progressed and at the final furlong, Elle Johnston and Cadence Dreamer are clear by&amp;nbsp;2 points ahead of Patrick McWilliams and Fivonia G.&amp;nbsp; With so little between them, this class also promises suspense!

Elle Johnston headlines the Young Rider 1.20m league table heading to the final leg aswell however this time with Tawnmore Lux Furious.&amp;nbsp; Currently on 46 points, she is 4 points clear of Olivia Roulston who are just back from a week of strong results in Dublin Horse Show.&amp;nbsp; Patrick McWilliams is poised in third place with Drumrott Penny to keep the pressure on for a strong finish.

The Ulster Region horse committee would like to wish all competitors the very best of luck on Saturday as we look forward to a fantastic day of Show Jumping Action!

    <title>Ulster Amateur Cup Heads to National Balmoral</title>
    <link>https://www.ulstershowjumping.ie/News/ID/635/Ulster-Amateur-Cup-Heads-to-National-Balmoral</link>

    <description>Pictured left:&amp;nbsp;Winnie Eaken,Triona Lennard from Southern area Hospice, Dora Beacom, Stephen McAlinden.
On Friday 28th June the annual Banbridge Charity Show reception took place at Sintons in Scarva. &amp;nbsp;Ray Buchanan, Show Director began the evening by explaining that Banbridge had been a charity show for a long time and donated funds to many charities over the years including the hospice on a number of occasions. &amp;nbsp;He explained that those involved with the show are also passionate about the Hospice, hoping that the amount received on the evening would help towards the great work they do. &amp;nbsp;Ray wished everyone at the hospice well in their future endeavours to fundraise towards keeping that work going.

As a result of money raised at this year&amp;rsquo;s Banbridge Charity Show, a cheque for &amp;pound;2,000 was presented to Triona Lennard for the Southern Area Hospice. &amp;nbsp;Triona who has volunteered for over 20 years, provided an insight into the hospice and the importance of fundraising to the Charity.

The Southern Area Hospice is a charity providing care free of charge to local people with cancer and other terminal illnesses. &amp;nbsp;Services provide an inpatient unit in daisy hill, a day hospice unit in Newry, outpatients clinic in Newry, Dungannon and Craigavon, a palative care team in Daisy Hill and Craigavon hospitals, a home care nurse in Armagh and Dungannon districts, bereavements support services at the Donaldson Counselling and therapy centre and hospice information resource centre. &amp;nbsp;It cares for almost 1,000 patients and the hospice relies on 73pence in every pound coming from fundraising to enable them to care for the patients and ofcourse their families aswell. &amp;nbsp;The fundraising department needs to raise around &amp;pound;50,000 per week to maintain the level of care they require with more than 80% of income going direct to patient care. &amp;nbsp;The southern area services relies heavily on the generosity of local people and the support of a network of 300 volunteers who help staff deliver their services.

Ray thanked everyone for not only their attendance on the night, but their hard work to run the show each and every year commending the many volunteers it takes to pull together a two day show of it&amp;rsquo;s calibre. &amp;nbsp;The show will be held on the second weekend in June next year!

    <title>Irish ‘Dream Team’ score second Nations Cup win in the space of a week</title>
    <link>https://www.ulstershowjumping.ie/News/ID/629/Irish-Dream-Team-score-second-Nations-Cup-win-in-the-space-of-a-week</link>
    <description>The Irish Show Jumping team of Jenny Rankin, Aidan Killeen, Susan Fitzpatrick and Ger O&amp;rsquo;Neill, managed by Taylor Vard, have scored their second Nations Cup win in the space of a week, this time landing the Danish Nations Cup in Uggerhaine.

The Irish quartet came out on top last Friday at Drammen in Norway when managed by Shane Carey and the same four riders again took their place at the top of the podium today (Saturday) following a tense third round jump-off against Poland.

Tyrone&amp;rsquo;s Jenny Rankin with the Deirdre Bourns-owned Bennys Legacy finished with one fence down first time out, while Laois&amp;rsquo;s Aidan Killeen with Fair Play, owned by H.P.J. Verdellen, finished with five faults. Kilkenny&amp;rsquo;s Susan Fitzpatrick with the Sharon Fitzpatrick-owned Fellow Castlefield produced a perfect clear round to keep Ireland in touch, while another Kilkenny rider, Ger O&amp;rsquo;Neill and the Martin Egan-owned Irish Sport Horse Castlefield Vegas, finished with just a time fault.

Morocco had held the lead at the halfway stage on just a time fault, with Sweden in second on four faults while Ireland were in a share of third with Poland on five faults. Eight of the 13 teams who lined-out made it through to the second round, with Britain, Belgium and Italy among those who failed to make the halfway cut.

The second round saw Rankin repeat her four fault score from the first round, before an excellent clear from Killeen moved Ireland up the leaderboard. Susan Fitzpatrick then completed a brilliant double clear round, while O&amp;rsquo;Neill lowered a single fence when last to go.

Halfway leaders Morocco dropped out of the picture when one of their riders was eliminated. Sweden also dropped back and this left Poland and Ireland at the head of affairs as both teams finished on nine faults.
Poland selected Wojciech Wojcianiec as their rider to go against the clock in the deciding jump-off. He posted a fast time with Naccord Melloni, but left the door open when knocking a single fence. Jenny Rankin and Bennys Legacy returned with a perfect clear round to leave Ireland as winners for the second week in-a-row.

A thrilled Irish Chef d&amp;rsquo;Equipe in Uggerhaine Taylor Vard, explained that they had made an early morning plan in the event of a jump-off,
&amp;ldquo;I really am delighted for all four of our riders, they were amazing. In the first round, I thought maybe it was slipping away from us but in fairness to the team, they really fought back in the second round to take the win. They showed great team spirit and it was a great team effort. Hats-off to the Polish team who pushed us all the way.

&amp;ldquo;We had made a plan from first thing this morning that if we did get into a jump-off, that Jenny would be the one to go for us as her horse would be freshest after jumping first and thankfully it all worked out. A special word of thanks must go to Shane Carey who despite having a lot of horses here at the show himself, took time to help us all out throughout the week and also to Gerry Mullins who played a huge part in the win last week and again today. Of course we have to thank all our horses owners and all those working behind the scenes, Vard commented.

    <description>The RUAS Balmoral Qualifier launched the 2019 Ulster Amateur Cup in style this morning at Portmore Equestrian Centre.&amp;nbsp; Excessive rainfall the night before didn&amp;rsquo;t feature as a problem or deter competitors as 70 combinations jumped on superb footing for the 7 qualifying places for balmoral. &amp;nbsp;Only 28 riders steered clear over the Rafael Suarez designed course and with no particular fence causing problems, riders simply had to answer the multiple questions put to them. &amp;nbsp;
